Father’s Day: The Best Part of Waking Up (video)

I love being a dad! It’s the greatest! On Father’s Day, it’s important to take time to remember the little things.

You know… the handmade cards, the infinite questions, the “crunchy coffee”.

If you are looking for a smile today, take two and a half minutes to watch this video:

I hope that made you smile!

Happy Fathers Day!

Radio Interviews, Car Crashes and a Book Called “Porn Again”

Well, this past week was another great one! Opportunities have abounded, but my favorite one was entering the radio studio and being interviewed about the new book “Porn Again: Breaking the Death Grip of Pornography“.

Greg Struve and I made the long trek in to the big city on Thursday. For my co-author, it was bitter sweet. He had been in a car accident the day before and his Civic, which I affectionately called “The Green Machine”, had died.  Part of our trip was to pay our final respects to his vehicle.

RIP Green Machine

Our interview, however, went great! We spent some time with host Annie Vaugier in the studios talking about the impact that the book was having. We were able to share some feedback that we had from people all over the country and she was able to share with us what some of her discussions throughout the previous week had uncovered. Needless to say, we were pumped and ready for a great show.

The interview went smooth. I was able to come from the “spiritual” or “pastor” perspective while Greg Struve came from the “counseling” or “therapist” perspective. The questions kept rolling in and the conversation never became stale. Before we knew it, our one hour slot was filled. All in all… a great day!

Struve HeadphonesInterview Went Great!

Who would have ever thunk?

All my life, I have just wanted to help people become better. I didn’t write “Porn Again” because I “wanted” to… but because I believed I “had” to. It was my responsibility to be a voice to help people find freedom and a stronger and richer relationship with Christ. And… from that responsibility, God continues to open up door after door.

I can’t thank all our supporters enough! You guys are awesome! I wouldn’t be half the man that I am without a corner filled with people who are encouraging, praying and believing for God’s best in my life. Y’all are awesome! Stay tuned for a copy of the interview on the blog!

Some Final Thoughts.

Keep following God and He will keep opening doors for you. Distinguish between the “Want To” and “Have To”s in your life and walk in obedience to the latter.

New Year’s Resolutions, Facebook Jesus and a Radio Interview

I have been so blessed to be highlighted on Arizona’s Christian Talk Radio three times in the past few months. Last week I was asked to be part of a new project and was able to talk about the book “Facebook Jesus: Using Facebook to Build and Grow a Church”. I had a great time sharing and encouraging the listeners to use Facebook as a venue to reflect Christ to their worlds.

A lot of friends outside of the Phoenix area didn’t get a chance to hear it, so I went ahead and got you a copy to hear. Click below and enjoy…

Radio Interview: GP Hintz on Arizona’s Christian Talk Radio

Please keep praying that God will use this book to help people shine bright for God.

Until next time!

Sermon Illustration: Shopping Carts and Discounted Food

I can take absolutely no credit for what I am about to give you, however I will promise you that I will use it one day soon… because IT IS SO GOOD! By “SO GOOD” I mean that it makes perfect sense and has a profound purpose and is something that people will relate to. In my opinion, that is how I define “SO GOOD”.

Anyways, I heard this illustration from Lincoln Brewster who either gathered it through divine guidance… or stole it from someone else. If you want to ask him, click here.

So, here’s the illustration. Imagine a shopping cart filled with all of the “discounted stuff”. You know… the pumpkin colored lipstick from halloween and the “holiday cupcakes” from Christmastime. It is filled with stuff that is priced cheap and deeply discounted because the store wants it to go.

Now imagine Jesus coming into that store and, not picking through the cart, but pushing that entire thing through the checkout line. As the lady starts to ring it out He stops her.

“Wait. Don’t discount these things.”

She says, “But Sir (she would call Jesus sir), these are all deeply discounted.”

Jesus responds, “Oh no. For these… I pay full price!”

It’s an illustration about us. I often feel “less” than worth full price. I wouldn’t blame anyone for putting the “deeply discounted” price tag on my forehead. I often see myself as less. However, when Jesus sees us… He doesn’t see us as discounted goods. He says, “I’ll pay full price for all of them.”

That “full price” was His perfect blood laid down for each and every one of us.

Take the illustration. Use it. Make it your own. Take stuff out or add stuff to it. If you use it, let me know how it goes.

I promise you that when I get to use it, I’ll be going for a ride in that shopping cart. When I do, I’ll post a pic so that you can see!

Have a great one and feel free to add any “shopping cart” illustrations that you may have below in the comment section.
